Nonprofit to Host Free, Virtual Conference for K-12 Educators Nationwide to Close Cybersecurity Skills Gap
ASHBURN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CYBER.ORG, a cybersecurity workforce development organization, today announced its inaugural EdCon 23, a free virtual conference for K-12 educators nationwide. The conference will take place July 17-19, 2023, and will feature presentations, workshops, and networking opportunities focused on building and expanding cybersecurity education programs in K-12 schools.
According to CyberSeek, there are currently over 700,000 open cybersecurity jobs in the U.S. workforce. CYBER.ORG's EdCon 23 will equip educators with the knowledge and resources they need to prepare students for these in-demand careers.
"The cybersecurity skills gap is a national security issue, and it's critical that we start preparing students for these careers at a young age," said Kevin Nolten, Director of Academic Outreach at CYBER.ORG. "EdCon 23 will provide educators with the tools and resources they need to build robust cybersecurity programs in their schools and inspire the next generation of cybersecurity professionals."
EdCon 23 will feature three days of interactive sessions, including:
* Keynote presentations from leading cybersecurity experts
* Hands-on workshops on cybersecurity topics such as networking, cryptography, and ethical hacking
* Networking opportunities with other educators and cybersecurity professionals
* Access to free cybersecurity curriculum and resources
