The Gilbert Family Foundation has donated $800,000 to Lawrence Tech's Centrepolis Accelerator to help hardtech startups in underserved communities.

The Gilbert Family Foundation on Tuesday announced an $800,000 investment in the Centrepolis Accelerator at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield.The investment from Jennifer and Dan Gilbert's philanthropic arm will support hardtech deployments from startups in Detroit, Highland Park and Hamtramck through the launch of the "Idea to Product" program, according to a news release. The program is designed to ensure innovators from "underserved communities" in Detroit, Highland Park and Hamtramck have the tools to compete and grow."This funding allows us to take our mission to the next level by focusing on underrepresented innovators with breakthrough hardtech solutions," Dan Radomski, CEO of the Centrepolis Accelerator at Lawrence Tech, said in the release.
